AN ART COLLECTION THAT INSPIRES

ART NEEDS SPACE

This space is not an end in itself, rather it is the basis for communication with interested viewers. Only then can art succeed in touching people, bringing them together and triggering new thoughts and impulses when engaging with an art work.

The private collectors Volker M. Kroll and Ralf-D Müller were guided by this intention. With the KM
_16 and the KM_159, created art spaces at two locations in Düsseldorf for their contemporary collection, which they have put together over the past 25 years. In addition to a permanent exhibition in KM_16, selected works from their collection are shown in changing presentations in KM_159.

In both places, dialogue with art should be promoted in order to encourage the expansion of consciousness, self-reflection and exchange among one another.

In addition, artists who are represented with works in the collection also have the opportunity to present their works in solo exhibitions at KM_159.

MEET THE ARTIST

Andreas Jonak

The sculptor Andreas Jonak was born in Magdeburg in 1989. He began his studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 2008, became a master student of Professor Anthony Cragg in 2013, and received his Academy Certificate in 2013.

His works move between the organic world and industrial formal language. Through deliberate openings and cracks, the sculptor allows the imagination to explore the inner workings of his works without revealing them entirely.

Belonging to a generation of artists who increasingly perceive the world not only through images but also through forms and structures, Andreas Jonak also sees his sculptures as explorations of space, time, and human experience. His works operate in the tension between the organic world and formal language. Through deliberate openings and cracks, the sculptor allows the imagination to explore the inner workings of his works without revealing them entirely.
